I’ve spent the past 15+ years helping companies build sound, sustainable computer vision software that performs reliably in real-world production environments.

My work has taken me across robotics, manufacturing, geospatial technology, and other industries where software has to meet stringent latency, memory, and hardware constraints. My expertise is largely centered on computer vision and sensor fusion, with an emphasis on building correct, performant software. 

I enjoy solving the engineering problems that stand between a successful prototype and a sustainable product. Whether that's optimizing performance, bridging the gap between prototype and production, or creating the profiling and validation tools that help teams understand their systems, my focus is always the same: practical engineering backed by careful analysis.

Every challenge we solve together starts with understanding the problem before recommending the fix. The best engineering decisions are guided by evidence, not assumptions. And you’ll see this reflected in my rigorous approach to gaining understanding, pinpointing underlying issues, proving performance, and ultimately building products you can ship.

When I'm not behind a keyboard, you'll usually find me painting, solving The New York Times crossword with my wife Lucy, or just trying to keep up with Emmett and his appetite.

meet emmett galea-fagg

Official morale officer, occasional meeting attendee, and full-time believer that tossing a tennis ball helps you think through engineering problems more effectively.

Emmett has yet to contribute meaningful code, although he remains optimistic that his expertise in quality assurance (primarily sniff testing) and office security will eventually earn him commit access.

In the meantime, he’s responsible for greeting visitors, supervising long debugging sessions, and reminding Ashton that stepping away from the keyboard for occasional stretch breaks is just good business sense.
